Comedy about the proverbial genie who comes out of a bottle (a table lamp in this instance) to serve his new master. The only problem is that instead of helping his master, the genie (Burl Ives) tends to get his master (Tony Randall) into more predicaments than he gets him out of.。林天苏眉夫妻两人因照顾年迈父亲不能外出打工，家境贫寒被众人瞧不起，父亲期盼着儿子林天能出人头地，让儿子林天去入伍，出人头地。妻子苏眉留守乡村照顾年迈残疾的父亲和三个孩子，十年后，林天成为了北凉龙帅，强势归来，家人团聚，一家生活。。
